Tele Opthalmology

Use of medical information exchanged from one site to another via electronic communications to improve a patient’s eye health status is Teleophthalmology. In teleophthalmology, delivery of eye care would be through several forms: real-time teleconsultation with an eye specialist; via the store-and-forward model, in which digital ocular imaging is acquired and transferred via telecommunications technology to remote eye specialists; or via a remote-monitoring model, which involves tracking of a patient’s health data after patient leaves the hospital.
